Club will regroup in January
PHOTO ARTS CLUB
At the Nov. 14 meeting, President Regine Schumacher announced that the club’s field trip to the Cerritos Library and sculpture gardens was a success. Those who participated should send their best three photos to Ben Benjamins at benbenjamins@hotmail.com at least three days prior to Dec. 12. There will be no informal tutoring meeting today, Nov. 28.
The club held elections. There were no nominations from the floor, so all current officers will continue for the next year: President Regine Schumacher, Vice President, Roger Bennett, Secretary Esther Cummings and Treasurer Sue Ann Gass.
The Photo Arts Club will meet Thursday, Jan. 12, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. Annual club dues of $10 will be due. The assignment is “funny/humorous” and photos are due to Benjamins by Jan. 6. The images can be a humorous situation, a funny sign or anything members’ creativity produces. The 2025 assignment lists will be available after the meeting.
At the meeting, Benjamins reviewed photos for the “worm’s eye view and bird’s eye view” assignment. He emphasized how important it is keep images simple, and be aware of composition, color and crispness. Cropping can be a valuable tool, but more effective if people “crop” before taking the photo to keep pixels dense. He reviewed the composition rule of thirds, where photographers place their subject in one of the three sections. During his review, Benjamins enhanced photos using editing tools on his computer and explained iPhone editing tools.
Everyone is welcome. For information, call Regine Schumacher at 562-430-7078.
