The LW Democratic Club membership meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. The club postponed its regular fourth Wednesday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Betty Yee, vice president of the California Democratic Party, will be the keynote speaker on the topic “Where Do We Go From Here?” The club has asked Yee to talk about the possible impact of the 2024 election results, as well as what she anticipates both the state and federal government will be able to accomplish in the next four years. The club also plans to seek her advice as to the role members of local Democratic clubs such as Leisure World’s might play.
Yee is uniquely qualified to lead this discussion as she is also a member of the Democratic National Committee and a candidate for election as California’s governor in 2026.
All LW Democrats and supporters are invited to attend the Dec. 4 meeting in person or by Zoom. For Zoom login instructions email lwsbdemocraticclub@gmail.com.
Leisure World Democrats and supporters need to be aware that due to the end of the year holiday season, there will be other changes in the schedule for upcoming club events.
The club’s lunch bunch meeting, normally held on the first Wednesday of the month, has been cancelled for December. These informal get-together sessions will begin again on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Hof ’s Hut Restaurant & Bakery at 11:30 a.m.
The club’s hospitality and voter information booth, located in the Clubhouse 6 parking lot, will be open from 10:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, beginning on Jan. 7. People are welcome to stop by to say hi and make new friends. To volunteer at the booth, email rlehmberg815@gmail.com or phone 562-340-9816.
