First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors.
Pastor’s Message
This weekend, Pastor Gary Whitlatch will return to 1 Timothy. Chapter 6:1-12 will be this week’s Scripture reference, noting the importance and need for sound teaching in the church. 1 Timothy: 6:1-12 also talks about how believers should represent Christ to those they with and what to prioritize as Christians.
Apostle Paul goes on to describe the things of importance that lead to contentment. Finally, the well-known words of verse 10, “The love of money is a root of all sorts of evil.” What are the consequences of this foolish longing for perishable things, and what effect can it have on one’s faith and wellbeing? Paul advises young Timothy to flee from these things and pursue godliness, faith and love with perseverance and gentleness.
Weekend Services
Sunday services from 9:3010:45 a.m. are traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray and Sherry Parmenter at the piano. This week, Sandy Carlson will bring the special music.
Saturday services from 9:3010:45 a.m. include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black on guitar with vocal accompaniment.
Midweek Studies
Melli Herrera leads a Women’s Bible Study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Pastor Gary Whitlatch leads the Tuesday Bible study from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday Bible study from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
The prayer and Bible Study, led by Pastor Humes, is on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
