Chief executive offi cer of local nonprofi t to speak at meeting
LW GARDEN CLUB
The Garden Club will meet Monday, Nov. 18, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 2.
The featured speaker will be Anne Mallari, chief executive officer of WE CARE, the Los Alamitos-based nonprofit family resource center that the Garden Club has sponsored for many years. Mallari will talk about how WE CARE helps local families and individuals in crisis.
Mallari stepped into the position of chief executive officer eight months ago after 17 years as an officer with Boys and Girls Clubs. A California native, she is also a past mayor of Cypress, and is married with two grandchildren.
Tickets to the Garden Club’s “Winter Wonderland” holiday brunch will be on sale at $30 in the lobby before and after the meeting. The brunch will be held on Dec. 16 in Clubhouse 2 at 11:30 a.m. Country Garden Caterers will serve a buffet of French toast, crispy bacon, sausage and fresh fruit. Homemade desserts will be provided by the Garden Club’s own bakers. There will also be an opportunity drawing for a variety of gift baskets and many door prizes. Club membership is not required to attend the brunch. Those who can’t attend the meeting can purchase tickets by calling Nancy Goldstein at 562-896-8604.
The WE CARE table will be set up in the lobby for donations of non-perishable food items, gift cards and cash. Cash donations are particularly needed and appreciated right now as the holiday season approaches.
All are welcome to attend. Coffee, tea and cookies will be served after the meeting.
