Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore’s
On Sunday, Nov. 10, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the 25th Sunday after Pentecost with the Rev. Murray D. Finck presiding. The 10:30 a.m. Communion and worship service meets at 13564 St. Andrews Drive.
Fellowship will continue afterward in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookies and snacks. All residents are welcome to join. The congregations continue to collect donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry.
The first part of the annual Congregational meeting will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, following the 10:30 a.m. service.
The Bible study will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at noon. Bishop Finck will lead the final discussion of the group’s exploration of the Ten Commandments.
The Fall Bazaar will be held on Nov. 14 and 15 from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. There will be arts and crafts, baked goods, gently used treasures, jewelry, ceramics and more. This is a chance to get started on holiday shopping. A portion of the proceeds will go to the church. Those who want to reserve a table or have any questions, call 562-430-6950 or 310-713-3821.
This Sunday, Bishop Finck will share story of the widow’s mite. Jesus was watching people putting money in the temple’s treasury. The wealthy were giving from their excess, the widow from her need. Jesus seems to not like the wealthy very much. The wealthy have been given more so therefore have more responsibility to use those gifts well. There are many instances where Jesus warns those who have that they do need to share with those who have not. Believers have the call to love others as ourselves, to love God, to be aware of their dear neighbors, to reach out and share.
