Halloween bash showcases creativity and fun

SHUFFLEBOARD CLUB

The Shuffleboard Club’s traditional Turkey Shoot will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, from 3-5 p.m., with pizza provided by the club. Signups are required so organizers know how many pizzas to order. This is always a unique, fun and friendly game.

With skeletons and bats donning the walls in Clubhouse 1, 31 club members signed in for the food and festivities to celebrate Halloween in style on Oct. 26. In the best costume category, Carolyn Bennett won first prize dressed as a scarecrow, and Jack O’Brien garnered second prize in his scary jacko- lantern getup.

Other original and noteworthy costumes were worn by Roger Bennett, Marlene Levy and Diana Smith. Kudos to resident interior decorator Sally Fowler, who always makes the surroundings special.

Playing the “on the line” version of shuffleboard, the winners received cash prizes and included Elizabeth Martinez, Harold Morehead and Jack O’Brien, first place; Liz Meripol and John Mount, second; Dave LaCascia and Karen Mendon, third. A great time was had by all.

Oct. 25 Friday morning league results: Team Shel bested Team Carol 7-5. Team Shel’s all-game winners were Kathryn Ewell, Shel Magnuson and Rod Osgood. Team Carol had no all-game winners. Team Jack beat Team Patti 8-4. Allgame winners for Team Jack were Harold Morehead, John Mount, Patty Peterson and Ellie West. Team Patti had no all-game winners.

Oct. 29 Tuesday evening

league results: Team Roger and Team Sue each won six games to tie things up. Team Roger’s all-game winners were Anne Calvo and Jesus Sosa. All-game winners for Team Sue included Sue Burkschab and Sal LaScala. Team Karen and Team Sally also tied 6-6. Team Karen’s all-game winners were Karen Mendon and John Mount. All-game performers for Team Sally were Minda Burkschab, Sally Fowler, Bob Peterson and Bert Thompson.
