Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach Public Affairs Officer Gregg Smith will speak at the Emergency Information Council’s (EIC) speaker series on Monday, Nov. 18, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3. He will discuss the base background and mission, along with details on base safety and emergency operations.

Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach exists to provide weapons storage, loading, maintenance, and assessment support to ships of the United States Pacific Fleet. It borders the entire eastern border of Leisure World. Safety and emergency preparedness become priorities when residential areas are so closely located.

Smith graduated from the University of Southern California in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. In 1998, he became public affairs officer for the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, responsible for media, government, community, and internal communications for up to five Navy weapons station installations along the U.S. Pacific coast, from San Diego to northwestern Washington state.
