Sidewalk Safety
The sidewalks in Leisure World are a vital part of residents safely walking through the community. Residents should remind guests that roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, razor- type scooters, and similar items cannot be used inside Leisure World.
Bicycles can use sidewalks, but bicyclists must yield to pedestrians on a sidewalk and always travel at a speed that is reasonable. Cyclists should also:
• Give an audible signal before passing a pedestrian.
• Pass to the left of a pedestrian when it’s safe.
• Slow down when approaching pedestrians.
• Ring a bell or call out to alert pedestrians when approaching from behind.
Mobility scooters should use sidewalks with caution by monitoring their speed, especially when passing a pedestrian.
