Wa-Rite
Wa-Rite is a women-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown.
Female residents who want support on their weight-loss journey and meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by. On Oct. 11, Wa-Rite had its business meeting. The club’s recordkeeper, Darlene Gardner, shared that the club lost 20 pounds for the week and 32 pounds for the month of September, with Judy Chambers becoming the queen for the month by eating better and exercising more. As a president of the club, Chambers was also honored on a Boss Day with a plant.
The biggest Loser of the week was Joyce Brannon with 8.5 pounds. She said that she cut back on high calorie foods, and started eating only twice a day, while still enjoying Chinese food.
The three members losing the most weight during September were Judy Chambers, 4 pounds; Kathy Moran, 4 pounds and Ellen Larsen, 3.5 pounds. The members who attended every week with no gain were Kathy Moran, Bea Quintana and Sharon Van Sickle.
There are still five more weeks for the club’s funny money contest. Ellen Larsen received her doctor of goal weight degree by keeping her weight off for the past two years.
The club will not meet on Friday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Dec. 27. The weekly food for thought was: “Loving yourself includes taking care of your health.”
