Photo Arts Club
At the Oct. 10 meeting, President Regine Schumacher asked that photos in the hallway of Clubhouse 3 be changed every three months in accordance with policy. Instructor Ben Benjamins began the program by saying how the photographers had used a lot of imagination in interpreting the photo assignment: unusual angles. Some of the images were of unusual angles while others were taken with the camera at an unusual angle.
In reviewing the photos, people looked at features like sharpness, use of light and composition. Benjamins mentioned keeping images of the horizon level so they do not slant. People can also use photo editing techniques if the original shot is not straight.
Benjamins asked that people send their photos to him via Gmail, if possible, as the images come through with greater accuracy than with Hotmail.
Les Coombes shared two photos he had taken on a recent trip to Arizona to chase the lightening. Richard McCarty shared photos he had taken of the recent moon eclipse and discussed the technique he used, as well as a seascape. He also shared photos of drawings as a way to preserve and share them.
The Photo Arts Club will meet Thursday, Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. Everyone is welcome.
The assignment is worm’s eye view and bird’s eye view, encouraging people to utilize unusual locations and angles. People should email their best three photos to benbenjamins@hotmail. com by Nov. 11.
Individuals with technical or other questions will be paired with someone who can help them for individual discussion after the meeting.
There will not be a camera support meeting at the Café this month. For information, call Regine Schumacher at 562-430-7978.
