The America First Republican Club started its meeting on Oct. 16, with a prayer. The club expressed its sincere desires for a good voter turnout, success for the candidates it supports and for God to have mercy on the country. Club members then enjoyed a potluck dinner provided by members. After the Pledge of Allegiance, several guest speakers including City Council Candidate Ben Wong, and Will Sitka, the campaign manager for congressional candidate Scott Baugh, spoke on issues including the Seal Beach Measure GG which increases sales tax, the propositions and the overall impressions on voter participation and preferences. It was again emphasized that conservative voter turnout is critically important.
Get out the vote canvassing sponsored by the club was previously completed, but reports of other unknown groups canvassing and perhaps moving sponsored political signs continue. Security has been informed.
The meeting ended with Vice President Gene Vesely singing a poignant song encouraging the club to encourage one another. The club booth at Clubhouse 6 will continue to assist with voter information, assistance in filling out ballots and getting the ballots to the Orange County Registrar of Voters on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. until Election Day, Nov. 5.
