Democratic Club

LW voters who received a letter from Democratic Club earlier in the month need to be aware that it contained an error. The section dealing with propositions on the General Election vote-by-mail ballot should have said: “The Democratic Party is supporting all of the state wide propositions on the November ballot except Propositions 34 and 36. They are recommending a no vote on Proposition 36 and have taken no position on Proposition 34.” The club apologizes for the error.

Voters who have not already submitted their ballots and want to change their vote on these propositions can mark a line through the yes or no and then fill in the correct box. Do not initial. Make sure the ballot is not torn and that it does not have any other markings on it. Use black ink. Sign the outside envelope before mailing the ballot or putting it in the drop box in front of the Amphitheater.

Voter assistance will be available at the club’s hospitality and voter information booth in the parking lot outside Clubhouse 6 every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for the rest of October and on Election Day, Nov. 5. The SBLW Democratic Club has endorsed the following candidates; yard signs will also be available for each candidate:

• Frances Marquez for OC Board of Supervisor.

• Harris/Walz for president and vice president.

• Dave Min for House of Representatives District 47.

• Matt Bragman for school board trustee Area 5.

• Franaz Pardasani for school board trustee Area 4.

Those who want to vote in person can go a pop-up voting center on Sunday, Oct. 27, in the Clubhouse 6 parking lot from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. The Seal Beach Vote Center is located at the fire station on the North Gate Rand and will open Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Democratic Club’s membership meeting will be on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. All Democrats and supporters are invited to attend in person or joinonZoom. Keynotespeaker for the meeting will be State Sen. Dave Min, the Democratic Party endorsed candidate for election to Congress. Dom Jones will also attend the meeting to update club members on the status of her campaign for election as LW’s district representative in the California Assembly.

Democrats and supporters can subscribe to the club’s free semi-monthly e-newsletter by emailing Editor Mary Larson at mlarson.telfords@gmail.com or calling 562-296-8521. Full contact information, including name, mail address, phone number, email address and party affiliation should be included.
