Community Church

Community Church’s annual “Sock It to ‘Em” sock drive is now taking donations of new socks for veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs. People can bring new packages of men’s and women’s white athletic socks to Sunday worship or to the church office during the week. People can also bring a cash/check offering toward the purchase of socks.

Many people are familiar with the term “the wrath of God.” Depending on where a natural disaster strikes, there are some talking heads in the world who want to point the finger and declare that God is judging people for the decisions that they make. In the Bible, the prophets were largely prophetic because they were able to tell the community that what they were doing was wrong.

These prophets were able to challenge the talking heads of their day, those who claimed to be right and to have all the answers— telling them that just because they are sound that does not make their actions pleasing to God.

In the Book of Hebrews this week, Community Church will look at the passage that gave rise to its theme for the year: “God’s Judgement is Love.” It will look at the judgement of God as understood by the author of the book of Hebrews.

Community Church meets on Sundays at 9:50 a.m. at 14000 Church Place. The service is followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshment. People are also welcome to come early for a cup of coffee in the narthex. LWers are welcome to come to see what the “friendly church” is all about.
