Wa-Rite: think positive to lose weight Wa-Rite: think positive to lose weight

Female residents who wantto find support on their weight-loss journey and meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by one of Wa-Rite’s meetings.

Wa-Rite is a women-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. Those dimes go to the person who lost the most weight that week. LW ID cards must be shown.

The club lost a total of 18 pounds the week of Sept. 22.

Maureen Baker was named the biggest loser of the week with a 3.5-pound loss. Baker said she watched what she ate and exercised more.

The Sept. 27 club meeting was conducted by vice president Bev Bender, who also facilitated the club’s Share Day, where members learn from each other’s experiences. Some of the inspiring nuggets of information were eating at home more often rather than eating out and engaging in more activities. Members also agreed that it may be beneficial to work with a nutritionist to learn more about the importance of each food group and how to stick to a plan and not overeat while on vacation or away from home.

The meeting’s food for thought was: “Today is just another normal day full of miracles, gifts and opportunities.”
