Talk Emergency Preparedness with Interact CEO

The Emergency Information Council speaker series will host Interact Solutions CEO Charles Siemonsma on Oct. 14 at 1:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9.

In the case of a disaster, Leisure World is on its own. The power is off, mobile phone cell towers are down, and there is no internet access. If you need help, how do you reach someone?

Siemonsma will describe how wireless TV and Internet service provider Interact Solutions has partnered with the LW Emergency Information Council to develop a cell phone app to address the problem.

With the Leisure World Disaster Help Chat app installed on a cell phone, a text requesting help can be sent to the Leisure World Emergency Operations Command Center even if the power is off and there is no cell service or internet access. There will be no waiting and hoping to be found by others.
