Scramble Golf Tournament
Ten teams of six golfers from the Leisure World men’s and women’s golf leagues teed off at 7:30 a.m., Oct. 2, to play a special scramble tournament at Turtle Lake Golf Course. The goal was to have the lowest gross score of the day. The tournament was sponsored by the LW Men’s Golf Club, Keith Koss of Total Carpet Care, and Roger Dunn Golf.
Special rules for the tournament were: 1. Each team member tees off and then it’s best ball until the ball goes in the hole.
2. Each best shot will be marked, and every other player plays from within six inches of that spot.
3. Every team member must use their drive off the tee three times.
4. All balls are to be played into the hole.
5. Only the best score is entered on the scorecard.
Every team achieved a well below-par score.
Results: Team 6—Mike Mayfield (captain), Kevin Daeley, Joann Lim, Ann Tran, Seon Kim and Jae H. Lee, 10 under par 44, first place; Team 2B—Ron Steele (captain), Terry Thrift, Dennis Jensen, Karen Mendon, Bill Zurn and Sue Sloan; Team 7—Ralph Koizumi (captain), Peter Kim, Ben Benjamins, Steve Kang, Lisa Kim and Bert Thompson; and Team 8—Dave LaCascia (captain), Young Lee, Hae Lee, Marv Jones, Kevin Lindstedt and Nancy Tye, 9 under 45, three-way tie for second. Special thanks go to Steve Moody for being the tournament director; Bob Turner for bringing the doughnuts; Scott Tuchfarber and Dave LaCascia for making the coffee; Steve Walker for cleaning up; Sue Elliot for announcing the tournament, and the maintenance team for getting the course ready.
