Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore

Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Churches welcomed new members to the congregation on Sept. 29: Susan Cooper to St. Theodore and Susan Avila and Annie Willequer to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

On Sunday, Oct. 13, the congregations will celebrate the 21st Sunday after Pentecost with Bishop Murray Finck presiding. The Communion and worship service gathers at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. After service, people are welcome to gather in the Fellowship Hall to enjoy tea, cookie and snacks together.

The congregations continue to collect food donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry.

The Bible Study is on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at noon with Bishop Murray Finck leading the discussion about the Ten Commandments. Jesus again challenges his followers: “give up everything and follow me.” Not only will believers receive hundredfold what they have given up for his sake and the Gospel but, he adds as almost an aside, “with persecutions,” and eternal life. No one should ever believe following Jesus fully is easy. He repeatedly tells his followers that it is not an easy journey. But with all the challenges, difficulties, setbacks, trials, and tribulations that life holds for everyone and especially for those who try to live a truly Christian life, the rewards are everlasting and infinite.

Like the children Jesus welcomed last week, God is with Christians in every step of life and its challenges and with him, all things are possible.
