First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Genesis 38 is a step away from Joseph and his journey in Egypt to an account of the sin and shame of Judah, the fourth son of Jacob by Leah. Many wonder why this chapter is even in the Bible but, by the Matthew 1, the reader is introduced to the genealogy of Jesus Christ. There are several recognizable names mentioned in Genesis 38 that are included in the genealogy of Jesus, so it is critical that it is part of the Old Testament canon of Scripture. This chapter is the account of Judah, whose line will be the kingly line among the tribes of Israel. Judah, despite his very questionable and sinful acts, is used by God in a powerful way to bring a sinless savior into a sinful world to redeem, reconcile, justify, and sanctify for himself a people who will but believe, trust, and have faith in Him. God uses imperfect people to bring forth a sinless savior.
