Tournament Poker Club plays Saturday, Oct. 5
People who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in can play at the Tournament Poker Club gathering on Saturday, Oct. 5. Regular tournaments are held the first three Saturdays of the month. Registration, coffee and treats start at 10 a.m. and cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.
The club had a great turnout for the last tournament of the month on Sept. 21. A great time was had by all 38 participants, win or lose. The two high hands for the week were both won by the same person. Roger Montero had a royal flush, and then a straight flush 3-7 of clubs. Lem Hall won a prize for winning with the promo hand of 10-4. As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Shelly Yu, first place; Larry Slutsky, second; Roger Montero, third; Harry Sera, fourth; Jon Jones, fifth; Jeff Rolnick, sixth. Play continued until Yu and Slutsky were heads up. Holding K-7 of hearts, Yu went all in before the flop and was called by Slutsky with K of clubs, J of hearts. The flop was 9-4-6 with two hearts, giving both a flush draw. The turn was a 5 of hearts and the river was a 3 of clubs. With five hearts, Yu won with a flush.
Yu has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the club for three years. This was her second final table win at regular tournament. In addition to tournament poker, Yu plays pickleball here in Leisure World.
The club congratulates all the winners.
