LW Quilting Bees LW Quilting Bees

The LW Quilting Bees, 88 members strong, meets every Wednesday and sometimes on Fridays from 9-11 a.m. in the Needle Craft Studio in Clubhouse 3. At the conclusion of their gathering, members generally enjoy boxed lunches and some continue on with conversation and needlework in the lobby. The group engages in all sorts of needlework including machine stitching, quilting, embroidery, crewel work, lace making and knitting.

The Quilting Bees group was formed in 2010 to encourage community appreciation of and to spur on the individual interest of quilting. Its purpose is to support and promote needle arts for future generation as members learn from each other, sharing special talents, short cuts and techniques. New members who are both novice and experienced are welcome to join them for fellowship, fun and the joy of creating useful objects.

As a group, they often are creating items for donation to a variety of nonprofits and needy folks in the area. Work is donated to local hospitals, the Orangewood Children’s Home, Horizon Pregnancy Center, the Seal Beach and El Dorado animal shelters and the Golden Age Foundation. Residents can also purchase membercreated items at the Friends of the Library Bookstore.
