American Latino Club

The American Latino Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 10, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. The theme will be Halloween. There will be a prize for the best costume.

The country of the month will be El Salvador, the smallest country in Central America. The national dish is the delicious pupusa, a thick griddle cake or flatbread made with cornmeal or rice flour, filled with meat, beans, cheese or vegetables, that are griddled until golden brown and crisp. The club will learn about this beautiful country in Central America through an interesting video and discussion.

Lunch will consist of two pupusas with rice and beans. Pupusa choices are beef, chicken or cheese and spinach. All lunches are served with a side of pickled cabbage slaw and seasoned tomato sauce. There will also be cheesecake for dessert. Due to the increase in food costs, the lunch prices have been revised. The cost of lunch for members is now $17 and $19 for guests. Make sure payment reaches Treasurer Myriam Klotz no later than Monday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. Payments must be sent to Klotz, either by U.S. mail or by dropping it off in her mailbox at 13940 Thunderbird Drive, 6-G. Checks should be made payable to the American Latino Club. Members will be contacted by email or phone. Members and guests can bring their own lunch and pay $6 that includes beverages and dessert but must let Klotz know. To RSVP, call Klotz at 714-746-9626
