First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
Genesis 37 is the incredible account of Joseph, the 11 son son of Jacob (Israel) and first son born to him by Rachel. Genesis 37:3 reads, “Israel loved Joseph more than all his other children, because he was the son of his old age. Also, he made him a tunic of many colors.”
This favoritism shown to Joesph by Israel would cause a great jealousy to arise with the other children, as the giving of the tunic indicated that Joesph would assume the family leadership role. This of course gives rise to jealousy and envy among the older brothers which resulted in a hatred for him so great they could not speak peaceably with him.
Genesis 37:5 says that “Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.”
The prophecies of Joseph’s dreams will be the topic of Pastor Bruce Humes message as well as the brothers’ murderous plot towards Joseph. Jealousy raises its ugly head and sets the course of history with unexpected twists and turns.
Recalling the scripture in James 3:16, “For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there,” obviously evident in the hearts of Joseph’s brothers.
