October is just around the corner, and Christmas will be here in the blink of an eye, so Christians are encouraged to receive the counsel of James with gladness when he writes that, whether believers are suffering or cheerful, they should pray.
For most of people, prayer is something they do or don’t do, or say that they do but don’t, or wish that they did. Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians, in which he instructs the community that he calls siblings, to “Pray without ceasing.”
Most people, whether familiar with prayer or not, don’t think of prayer as something that can be done without ceasing.
LW Community Church will look at the concept and practice of prayer on Sunday, Sept. 29, as Paul and James describe it.
Community Church meets on Sundays at 9:50 a.m. at 14000 Church place by St. Andrews Gate. The service is followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshment. People are also welcome to come early for a cup of coffee in the narthex. LWers are welcome to come to see what the “friendly church” is all about. The church regularly has first-time worshippers, and many who join once come back again.
