Wa-Rite: Manage your weight with strength and mindfulness
Female residents who want to find support on their weightloss journey and meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by one of Wa-Rite’s meetings.
The Wa-Rite is a women-only club and meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. Those dimes go to the person who lost the most weight that week. LW ID cards must be shown.
The club lost a total of 14 pounds in one week. Cindy Pierfkalla was the biggest loser with a 2-pound weight loss. She achieved it by eating smaller portions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the same time each day and not eating anything after 5:30 p.m. Another tip that Pierfkalla shared is throwing away fast food restaurant inserts from newspapers to avoid the temptation of eating a junk food.
For the month of August, the club lost an incredible 64.5 pounds. Judy Chambers was named a queen of the month with an 8-pound loss. The other three members who lost the most weight were Melinda Lee with 14 pounds, Judy Chambers, 8 pounds; Ruby Resnick, 4 pounds; and Jeanette Williams, also 4 pounds. The degreed member of the month was Kathy Moran.
The weekly food for thought was: to know your weakness is to acknowledge it, then you can try to change it.
