Shotgun golf scramble to be held Oct. 2
A scramble/shotgun team tournament, sponsored by the LW Men’s Golf Club, Keith Koss of Total Carpet Care, and Roger Dunn Golf, with be held Oct. 2. With a full complement of 54 players there will be six individuals (men and women) on each team. Teams are chosen by using individual handicaps as of the September calculations. Players will not know who their teammates are until the day before the tournament.
The tournament will start promptly at 7:30 a.m. Golfers are requested to arrive and check-in by 7:15 and then proceed to their assigned starting holes. Rules are below and are identical to the last few scrambles played. Rules will be available at sign-up and will also be posted.
1. Each team member tees off and then it’s best ball until the ball goes in the hole.
2. Each best shot will be marked, and each player plays from within six inches of that spot.
3. Only the best score is entered on the scorecard. No individual scores are kept. 4. Every team member must use their drives (as the best ball) off the tee three times. This must be noted on the scorecards.
5. All balls must be played into the hole—no gimmies or concession.
6. There will be no improvement of lies except for balls in tree wells, blocked by fence, in mud or standing water. Remember—move the ball no closer to the hole, but Lift, Clean, and Place is in effect.
7. Pins will be located near the middle of each green. Men’s tees will be at the blue markers with the women’s red tees closer to the hole. 8. Only one ball—and thus one score—counts per hole for each team and the team with the lowest total score for the 18 holes wins the tournament.
Golfers from the LW men’s and women’s golf clubs will be able to sign up at the Tuesday and Wednesday golf tournaments. The sign-up fee is $10. There will be a picnic after the tournament at the Clubhouse 1 picnic area starting at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 per person—everyone is invited. Tickets will be sold in the starter shack during the regular women’s and men’s club tournaments.
