Luncheon will be held Oct. 4

RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

The California Retired Teachers’ Association (CalRTA)will host a luncheon on Friday, Oct. 4 at noon in Clubhouse 3, Room 9.

The guest speaker will be Diane Henry, who will discuss the evolution of the U.S. Teacher’s Retirement system. Thanks to the California founder, Laura E. Settle, teachers have had a decent retirement system for the past 95 years. This journey remains constant due to the steadfast dedication to advocacy and retirement security.

Henry will give a historic presentation featuring founder Frances Perkins, Secretary of Labor, and her 1935 Social Security Act. She recognized that there was a need to establish a federal system of old-age benefits, unemployment insurance and public health services for the elderly to name a few services.

For lunch reservations, call Anne Stone at 714-600-6956.
