The LW Art League met Sept. 10 in Clubhouse 4. The guest demonstration artist was Chinese brush and sumi-e painter Alma Borcuk from Lake Arrowhead.

She demonstrated the basics of Chinese brush painting like the type of paper to use, when to use the smooth and textured side of the paper, the type of brush to use, the brush strokes, the proper way of holding the brush and more. Borcuk donated a framed Chinese brush painting as the raffle prize, won by Marilyn Jonas.

In LW Art League tradition, Borcuk also served as the judge at the art competition.

Marilyn Jonas’ landscape painting won the Best of Show and popular vote awards. In the masters category, Alice Sioson, won first place; Carol Levine, second.

In the intermediate category, Linda Frysinger won first place; Kathleen Eisen, second; Ida Bruce, third; and Marion Higgins, honorable mention.

In the 3D/craft category, Raquel Tal won first place; Linda Frysinger, second; Daniel Prosek, third; and Alice Sioson, honorable mention.

After a long absence from the league, Kathleen Eisen rejoined at the meeting.

The Art League will meet again on Oct. 8.
