America First Republican Club

The America First Republican Club is growing and changing with its newly elected officers: Donald Horning, president; Gene Vesely, vice president; Anne Calvo, treasurer and Susan Kelleghan secretary. The club thanks outgoing Officers David Harlow and Elsa Gildner, who helped guide the club over many years.
The immediate goal of the club is to get its slate of conservative candidates elected. This slate includes the city council, school board, county supervisor, all the way up through state and national positions. There are also many propositions to be considered, most of which are taxpayer funded issues. Voter education is a priority. At last month’s meeting, Scott Baugh, Congressional District 47 candidate spoke as did City Council Candidate Ben Wong.
Club volunteers are currently canvassing the community, dropping off information and talking with residents who have questions, need help with registration, want to talk about a particular issue or, just want to know that their vote counts.
The club booth, located in the parking lot of Clubhouse 6, offers a chance for residents to interact with club members, receive information and register to vote. The booth is open Mondays and/ or Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The club meeting on Sept. 18 had speakers Janet Nguyen for Supervisor and Bobby Papoulias and Perla Mendoza for School Board candidates.
New members and those who wish to express their support for traditional conservative values America are welcome to join.
The club encourages LWers to consider issues and candidates carefully, and be kind to one another in the process.
