Female residents who want to find support on their weight-loss journey and meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by one of Wa-Rite’s meetings.

The Wa-Rite is a women-only club and meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. Those dimes go to the person who lost the most weight that week. LW ID cards must be shown.

In the past week, the club lost a total of 16.5 pounds, and celebrated its double losers—Linda Nye and Melinda Lee who lost 2 pounds each. Both of them said that their secret for success was eating an early dinner, around 5 p.m., and making it their last meal of the day. Henrietta Peavy reached her short-term goal weight and was eligible for her $10 reward prize.

Shirlene Bradrick achieved her Ph.D. degree in weight loss, which means she reached her goal weight and managed to maintain it by keeping it off for two years. She credits her accomplishment to watching what she eats during the week and enjoying herself on the weekends.

The weekly food for thought was write down or say three things to be grateful for before going to bed at the end of the day.
