Tour features mechanical instruments; nickelodeons
GRF BUS TRIP
The Recreation Department is conducting a GRF bus trip to experience the Nethercutt Museum, featuring a buffet lunch at the Odyssey, on Thursday, Sept. 19. The bus departs from the Amphitheater parking lot at 7:30 a.m., the tour begins at 10 and lunch is 12:30 p.m.
At one time the residence of JB Nethercutt, the tour includes a world-class collection of automated mechanical instruments including reproducing pianos, nickelodeons, cylinder and disc music boxes, orchestrions and the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ.
During the tour some of these instruments are demonstrated including a mini-concert on the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ. Also on display is the beautiful Louis XV style dining room.
Lunch is hosted nearby at the Odyssey atop the scenic hills of Granada Hills, with captivating views of the surrounding San Fernando Valley.
Tickets are $105 per person and may be purchased at the Recreation Office, located on the lower level of Building 5 or online at https://www.lwsb.com/ special-events/.
Participants need to complete a release form and return it to the office in person or via email.
