Sign up for the Walk & Roll-A-Thon
GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION
The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) will sponsor a Walk & Roll-A-Thon on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. starting in the Clubhouse 6 parking lot. Participants must pre-register and can do so at the Garth Brooks tribute show in the Amphitheater today, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m.
GAF board members will also be in the Hospitality Room in Clubhouse 6 from 9-11 a.m., weekdays, to help people register for the event. The cost is $30 for individual registration; $50 for a couple. People who register before Sept. 18 will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a box lunch. The Walk & Roll-A-Thon starts at Clubhouse 6 and continues around Leisure World on a 2.4-mile route. The event is not a race. People are encouraged to walk at their own pace and may turn around any time along the route.
Golf cart ambassadors will be stationed among walkers in case people need help or want a ride to the Clubhouse 6 festivities.
Those who cannot walk the 2.4 mile course can borrow a mobility aid from the GAF Mobility Aid Office to allow them to participate with friends and family at whatever level they are comfortable.
On-Site Home Sales group, City of Seal Beach, Seal Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center, Home Instead Home Care, Bay Towers At Bixby, LW Korean Community Church and Round Tree are the current sponsors of the event. The LW Community Emergency Response Team and Alzheimer’s OC will also be there to supply information for the organizations.
