Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
On Sunday, Sept. 8, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the 16th Sunday after Pentecost with Bishop Murray Finck presiding. The Communion and worship service gathers at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.
During September, the sermons will center on the book of James. Fellowship will follow service in the Fellowship Hall, where coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. All are welcome.
Members of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore are participating in the annual “God’s Work. Our Hands.” outreach program once again. Members will be outside the front doors on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1-3 p.m. collecting non-perishable food donations to be given to the Lutheran Social Services in Santa Ana to help feed the hungry in Orange County.
All LW residents are encour-aged to participate, regardless of church membership. The congregation chooses to partner with the Lutheran Social Service because the food stays local to feed those in the surrounding community.
The next Bible study will be held Wednesday, Sept. 11 from noon-1:30 p.m. The study is in week two of a five-week study titled “The Decalogue–The Ten Commandments.” Bishop Finck will lead the discussion.
Pastor Gilbert Moore’s celebration of life is on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran with a reception to follow.
Reverend Nancy Sinclair passed away on Aug. 27. She served St. Theodore of Canterbury Church for eight years before she retired. She was 76. The memorial service is scheduled for Oct. 26, at St. Winfred in Huntington Beach, CA.
