At the August safety class, LW CERT member Patrice Johnson presented on the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, which teaches practical actions to secure immediate needs such as food, water and shelter. Further steps people can take include ensuring mental and emotional growth through the aftermath of a disaster by building a strong support system with friends and loved ones. LW CERT President Catherine O’Brien defined resilience and discussed eight steps to help to recover from difficult situations..
