The congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal are saddened to announce the passing of retired Pastor Gilbert Moore on Aug. 19, 2024. The family will hold his Celebration of Life on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 13564 St. Andrews Drive, with a reception to follow the memorial service. The congregations hold Pastor Gil’s family, friends and the many people who knew and loved him in their hearts and prayers.

Members of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore are participating in the annual “God’s Work. Our Hands.” outreach program once again. Members will be outside the front doors on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1-3 p.m. collecting non-perishable food donations to be given to the Lutheran Social Services in Santa Ana to help feed the hungry in Orange County. We encourage everyone in LW, including nonmembers, to drop off canned or boxed foods. The congregation chooses to partner with the Lutheran Social Service because the food stays local to feed those in the surrounding community.

On Sunday, Sept. 1, the congregations will celebrate the 15th Sunday after Pentecost, with Bishop Murray Finck presiding. The Communion and worship service gathers at 10:30 a.m. at 13564 St. Andrews Drive.

Fellowship will follow service in the Fellowship Hall, where coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. All are welcome.

The congregations will begin a new Bible study starting Sept. 4 from noon-1:30 p.m. The group will begin a five-week long study titled “The Decalogue–The Ten Commandments.” The study takes an in-depth look at the Ten Commandments. Bishop Murray Finck will lead the discussion. All are welcome to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring friends, a Bible, and a lunch.
