GRF Bus Trip: ‘Waitress’ Musical
The Recreation Department will host a GRF bus trip to see the uplifting Broadway musical “Waitress” at the La Mirada Theater on Thursday, Sept. 26.
In the musical, Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts desserts that mirror her topsy-turvy life such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed By My Eggs Pie.” When a baking contest in a nearby county—and a satisfying run-in with someone new—show Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Featuring music and lyrics by Grammy Award winner Sara Bareilles (“Love Song,” “Brave”), this hit musical is a little slice of Broadway heaven.
Tickets are $65 per person, which includes the show and transportation. Tickets go on sale Monday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at the Recreation Office, located on the lower level of Building 5, or online at https://www.lwsb.com/special-events/. Participants need to complete a release form and return to the office in person or via email.
The bus departs from the Amphitheater parking lot at 4:45 p.m. to allow time for people to get dinner on their own at a local restaurant prior to the 7:30 p.m. show.
