Walk & Roll-A-Thon registration began Aug. 14
GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION
The Golden Age Foundation will sponsor a Walk & Roll-ATh on on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. starting in the Clubhouse 6 parking lot.
Participants must pre-register (see form below). Fill it out and drop it off at the metal box in Clubhouse 6, or people can mail them to PO Box 2369, Seal Beach, CA 90740.
GAF board members will be in the Hospitality Room in Clubhouse 6 from 9-11 a.m., weekdays, to help people preregister for the event. The cost is $30 for individual registration; $50 for a couple. People who register before Sept. 18 will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a box lunch. Registration after Sept. 18 will include lunch but not a t-shirt due to ordering deadlines.
The GAF Walk & Roll-ATh on starts at Clubhouse 6 and continues around Leisure World on a 2.4-mile route.
LW Minibus service will be available at Clubhouse 4 for people who prefer a shorter walk.
The event is not a race. People are encouraged to walk at their own pace and may turn around any time along the route.
Golf cart ambassadors will be stationed among walkers in case people need help or want a ride. They will be available to transport people to the Clubhouse 6 festivities.
Maintaining an active lifestyle is important at all stages of life and even more important as people age. Regular physical activity can improve mobility, balance and strength, which is important to reduce the risk of falls, a major concern for seniors. As little as 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week can increase longevity. Walking can improve mood, reduce stress and improve sleep. Those who are not regularly walking and want to participate in the GAF Walk & Roll-A-Thon should consider starting to increase strength and endurance now. Those who cannot walk the 2.4 mile course can borrow a mobility aid from the GAF

Walk & Roll-A-Thon festivities will include entertainment by the Legends of Rock band and Second Winds band, Hui O Hula dancers, Song Birds and the Aloha Club outside of the Clubhouse 6 parking lot.
Food trucks will also be available.
Exhibit tables with information and commemorative t-shirts will be inside Clubhouse 6. All are welcome to participate in a day of fun and exercise.
