Genealogy Club and Library
The Genealogy Club’s Wednesday membership meetings are on break this month. Regular general membership meetings will resume in September.
The library is open Monday-Friday from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The club will hold elections in October. Presidents Janet Lessin and Liz Rasmussen have served as co-presidents during the last three years, carrying the club through the pandemic and keeping it going. The club will require a new president or co-presidents in January 2025. Prospective leaders are encouraged to run. Lessin and Rasmussen are happy to help while the new president or presidents get acclimated.
Theme Thursdays:
• Aug. 15—Gems from journals, ledgers, and letters
• Aug. 22—Researching with Rasmussen and Lessin
• Aug. 29—Party time (bring a beverage and snacks to share) Lessin and Rasmussen are still looking for help with Theme Thursdays. The club gives a big thank you to all who have volunteered so far. Many have enjoyed hearing people’s genealogical stories.
The club has added 88 new papers to its archives this month. These papers come from California, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Wisconsin, the District of Columbia, Canada, England, and Wales. In Wisconsin alone, people will find 30 new papers with issues dating back to 1846. People can now discover 178 years of history in seconds.
The Genealogy Library is located in Clubhouse 3 adjacent to the Learning Center. It is open Monday-Friday from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
