Humanist Association

The Leisure World Humanist Association will meet on Sunday, Aug. 4, in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, at 10:30 a.m.
The presidential election is only a few months away. Club President Dave Silva will give a Powerpoint presentation on the economic history of both the Republican and Democratic parties, ending with an examination of the Heritage Foundation’s controversial plan, Project 2025.
Silva is the only LW resident to have run for a statewide office of a major party. He was also the president of the Democratic Club and served on the Orange County Democratic Executive Board. His book, “Searching for Utopia,” is available on Amazon.
He will trace the major changes in both parties during the last hundred years. These changes have led to the transformation of the Supreme Court and the MAGA movement centered around Donald Trump.
The Democrats have a new candidate in Vice President Kamala Harris. Much of her campaign will center on the goals described in Project 2025.
There will be a drawing for a hardcover, first-edition book by Sen. Bernie Sanders.
