First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together.

Pastor’s Message

Pastor Gary Whitlatch will continue the study of 1 Timothy 4-5. Two principal issues will be examined. The first one is in 1 Timothy 4:16, “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” Pastor Whitlatch will explore further how Paul is connecting this warning to assurance in a pastor’s salvation and his flock. First Timothy is a “pastoral epistle,” and further exploration in chapter 5 will show Christ’s heart for the elderly and widows in the church. James 1:24 states, “true religion before God and the Father is to visit orphans and widows in their time of trouble.” Whitlatch will examine several scriptures showing the importance of honoring widows. These timeless instructions written lovingly, are as relevant today as they were first written.

Weekend Services

Sunday services, held from 9:30-10:45 a.m., are traditional with hymnal music led by Janet Ray and Sherry Parmenter at the piano. The choir will sing.

Saturday services include contemporary worship songs led by Gregory Black from 9:3010:45 a.m.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Pastor Whitlatch leads the Tuesday Bible study from 9:3010:30 a.m.

Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday morning Bible study from 10:30-11:30. Humes also leads the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
