Guys and Gals Tournament hosts 27 teams

The first July Guys and Gals Tournament was played on the July 17. A total of 27 teams (54 players) teed off and played 18 holes. Fairways and tee boxes remain in good condition. The greens, however, need players’ help. Divots and ball marks, which must be repaired by the golfers, are not being fixed, and the greens are looking terrible because of it. Players should fix their divots and ball marks every time they play.

Teams of various skilled golfers of one man and one woman vied for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus two circle holes and two closest to the pin challenges.

A flight winners (handicaps of 0- 8): Young and Hae Lee, and Mike Mayfield and Nancy Tye, first place; Bruce Bowles and Linda Herman, Won and Jane Song, Ron Steele and Sophia Kim, and Bob Barnum and Kyung Ju, second; Steve Walker and Susie Kim, third.

B flight winners (handicaps of 9-12): Ralph Koizumi and Karen Ford, first place; Seon Kim and Sang Kim, second; Gene Archambault and Mary Ann Moore, and Bob and Janice Turner, third.

C flight winners (handicaps of 13-18): Paul Shellenberger and Lynn Barack, and Marv Jones and Marilyn Hewitt, first place; Scott Tuchfarber and Pam Krug, second; Walt Bier and Margie Thompson, and Dale Williamson and Mary Grieg, third; Jae H. and Sun Lee, fourth.

Closest to the pin on the second hole was Bill Lyons and Sue Sloan. On the 17th hole it was Young Lee and Pam Krug. The lowest net score was a tie recorded by Shellenberger and Barack, and Jones and Hewitt at 11 under 43. Young and Hae Lee and Mayfield and Tye were second at 9 under 44. For low gross scores there were six teams tied at even par 54. With the good weather and course conditions, 23 of 27 teams had net scores at or under par. There were 12 circle hole winners with 50 birdies.
