Creedenced to perform CCR’s roots rock classics
ROLLIN', ROLLIN' DOWN TO THE AMPHITHEATER
Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival July 25 | 7:30 p.m. Amphitheater Stage
Formed from the top players around California, Creedenced is a tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) and John Fogerty.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes CCR as “an unapologetic throwback to the golden era of rock and roll,” adding that “the term ‘roots rock’ had not yet been invented when Creedence came along, but in essence, they defined it [...] In so doing, Creedence Clearwater Revival became the standard bearers and foremost celebrants of homegrown American music.”
The band’s hits include “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “I Put A Spell On You,” “Run Through The Jungle,” “Born on the Bayou,” and many more.
The tribute band features Tim Walsh on lead vocals and guitar playing the part of John Fogerty. Walsh has been called the quintessential John Fogerty for the way he channels the iconic singer’s style and vocals on stage.
He has appeared on the Howard Stern Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Donny and Marie, Woodstock 99 music festival, Carson Daly show and ABC’s “The View.”
Neal Shelton on guitar and vocals plays the part of Tom Fogerty. He has performed on stages nationwide since he was a teenager. He has played guitar in many successful bands, including tributes to Judas Priest and Def Leppard. Neal’s original song “No Way Out” was used on NBC’s “The Pretender” on the 1999 season finale episode.
Bass player Tony Cavazo on bass guitar plays the part of Stu Cook. Cavazo performed on the L.A.-scene in the late ‘70s, recorded two albums, joined the band Dangerface, co-wrote “Metal Health” and recorded on an album for Quiet Riot. In 1984, he joined the band Hurricane with Robert Sarzo, recorded three albums and toured extensively.
Minibus transportation is available before and after shows. Koffel’s Food Truck will be on site serving hot dogs, burgers and fries from 5-7 p.m. See Amphitheater rules on page 14 and the full season schedule on page 12.
