Tournament Poker Club

Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em with the Tournament Poker Club for a $5 buy-in can play at the next Saturday tournament on July 20 in the lobby of Clubhouse 6. Registration begins at 10 a.m., along with treats and coffee. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

During the July 6 tournament, the high hand winners were: Katherine Powell (4-4-4-4) and Frank DePalma (4-8 hearts). By playing and winning the promo hand of 9-4, Cheryl Enge won a prize. As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Bob Konier, first place; Maryanne Conte, second; Wendy Wu, third; Jon Jones, fourth; Joseph Guglielmo, fifth.

About 50 players started the game and play continued until the final table where Conte and Konier were heads up. At the last hand, Konier went all in before the flop with 3-3, he was called by Conte with J-7. The flop came 7-K-4 giving Conte a pair of 7s. The turn was a 5, no help to either player and the river card was a 3, which gave Konier the winning hand of 3-3-3.

Konier has lived in Leisure World and been a member of the Poker Club for 16 years. This was his third final table win at regular tournament. In addition to tournament poker, Konier enjoys traveling with his RV and is president of the RV Club here in Leisure World.
