LW MEN'S GOLF CLUB

Thirteen Leisure World Men’s Golf League members played at the 5,600-yard par 71 Meadowlark Golf Course in Huntington Beach on July 8. Bob Munn, the club’s favorite 90-plus-year-old golfer shot a 90, which is just two below his age. With most of the league golfers in the 75-90 years of age range and par golf around 71, shooting ones age is difficult. This is not the first time this has happened for Munn.

Scores were very good with nine of the 13 players net at or under par. There were nine birdies— two each by Bob Munn, Gary Stivers and Clay Fischer, plus one each by Sam Choi, Chris Lankford and Jim Goltra. Munn was closest to the pin on No. 7 and Goltra was closest on No. 16. Stivers had fewest putts in the A flight, and Munn contributed to his low score with fewest putts in a B flight.

A flight winners: Choi, 7 under 64, first place; Lankford, 6 under 65, second; Stivers and newest member Seon Kim, 4 under 67, third; Tim Looney and Fischer, 3 under 68, fourth; Larry Hillhouse, Goltra and Dave LaCascia, fifth.

B flight winners: Munn, 8 under 63, first place; Daniel Mahoney, 7 under 64, second; Tom Ross and Bill McKusky, third.

The Monday and Friday golf leagues play at four local courses, all within 15-20 minutes of Leisure World. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.

Rewards are given for low net in each flight, birdies, closest to the pin on two par threes, and for the lowest number of putts in each flight. Holes-in-one and eagles (two under par), although infrequent, are generously rewarded. Those interested in playing can contact Gary Stivers at 714-313-3697 or Dave LaCascia at 801-674-5975.
