Long Beach Memorial Medical Center’s Program Director Angie West will speak to the Sunshine Club about strokes on Friday, July 12, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m.

West and has a wealth of experience in stroke care. She has a master’s degree in nursing and is a registered nurse. She led the Comprehensive Stroke Center team to achieve a Joint Commission certification and was responsible for developing educational programs and stroke competencies to educate staff, patients, and their families.

During her presentation, West will provide information on optimizing systems of acute stroke care and neuro-interventional procedures. She has been published twice in the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing and has contributed to the first publication of the Comprehensive Review for Stroke Nursing.

West is on the board of the Los Angeles County Stroke Coordinators Committee and serves as the vice president on the board of the Stroke Support Association in Long Beach.

People are asked to arrive promptly, those who are late for the meeting should quietly use the back door to avoid disturbing the presentation.

All residents are welcome to join the meeting. The Sunshine Club requires no membership fees, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be served.
