Music therapist adds harmony to group

PARKINSON'S SUPPORT GROUP

Everyone is invited to a music-themed Parkinson’s Support Group with Karen Skipper, a board certified music therapist and musical director of the Orange County Tremble Clefs. The meeting is on Tuesday, July 16, at 2 p.m., in Optum HCC Conference Room. No RSVP required. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Tremble Clefs program aims to enhance communication abilities, boost emotional health and improve quality of life for people with Parkinson’s disease. It encourages the participants to engage in therapeutic singing and provides a friendly environment to do so. Studies show that music therapy and singing offer many health benefits to people with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners, and it doesn’t require professional skills or practice.
