Mutual 9 resident Mary Read performed with the Vox Femina Chorus at Carnegie Hall on June 8. Read is one of the founding members of the chorale, which originated in 1997. Under the direction of Dr. Iris S. Levine, the 47-member chorus aims “to create a world that affirms the worth and dignity of every person, giving women voice through the performance of quality choral literature.”

Read and her fellow performers received two standing ovations at their Carnegie Hall presentation.

The group performs widely in Southern California as well as nationally and internationally, and has three annual subscription concerts. It has also participated in over 200 community events. More information is available online at www. voxfemina.org.

Read was accompanied to the New York City performance by her wife, Liz Cvikel, LW friends Linda Klein and Lynn Zdonek, and other family members and friends.
