City recognized for storm, disaster preparedness

CITY OF SEAL BEACH

The City of Seal Beach has been recognized for its efforts to mitigate, prepare for and respond to potentially severe storms and tsunamis.

For the fifth year, the city has renewed its prestigious National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) StormReady and TsunamiReady recognitions.

The two programs were developed by the National Weather Service to help communities prepare for severe weather events and natural disasters. By meeting rigorous criteria, communities can enhance their readiness and improve their ability to respond to weather-related disasters.

The recognitions prove that the City of Seal Beach has an enhanced level of risk assessment, planning, education and warning communications at its disposal in case of a disaster. By preparing before a disaster occurs, cities can be more nimble in their response before, during and after a disaster.
