ENTERING LEISURE WORLD

Leisure World cyclists are permitted to use traffic lanes to enter Leisure World gates and must show valid Leisure World identification cards, not a facsimile.

Cyclists with IDs can also enter through the community’s pedestrian gates.

When entering through traffic lanes, bikers must take their place in line with vehicles to enter. All three entrance gates—Main, North and St. Andrews—are designed to let one vehicle, cart or bike in at a time.

People cannot cycle into the community alongside vehicles. Bikes do not trigger sensors in the ground as they are not heavy enough, so the barrier arm can descend and strike cyclists who tailgate vehicles into the community. Motorcycles and golf carts are also too light to trigger sensors.

Gate guards have the ability to manually open gates for bikes, carts and motorcycles after a LW ID is shown.

Most LW bikes have GRF decals. They won’t get bikes through the gates, but they will help track lost or stolen bikes if necessary.

At the July 3 GRF Operations Committee meeting, GRF Director Don Horning of Mutual 2 suggested considering the possiblity of adding dedicated bike lanes at the gates. The idea will be discussed at a future committee meeting.

The GRF escrow report contains data from all real estate sales in Leisure World. On-Site Home Sales, under the ownership of The Januszka Group, Inc., led by broker Dawn Januszka, is the GRF's only offi cial real estate agency. Each year, On-Site Home Sales returns between $500,000-$900,000 to the GRF. The annual give-back helps offset monthly assessment fees for every LW resident.
