LW Men’s Golf Tournament
TheLeisureWorld Men’s Golf Club held a tournament at Turtle Lake Golf Course June 26 with 57 golfers participating in three flights vying for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus four circle holes (shots within a 5-foot circle rewarded) and two closest-to-the-pin challenges.
The sun shown gloriously from first to last tee time. A delightful breeze kept the temps at bay while the golfers tore up the course. With the great weather and green, tees and fairways in excellent condition, a season’s best 41 of the 57 rounds were net at or under par, with a record 87 birdies, and seven circle hole winners. Mr. “Sweet Swing” Bill Lyons scored a hole-in-one on the 110-yard 14th hole.
First place in the low gross competition was procured by Bob Barnum with a very nice 4 under 50, followed by Bill Lyons, Bob Turner and Pat Paternoster. Best net score was shot by Tournament Director Scott Tuchfarber at 43, then Ryan Hong at 45, and Jon Russell, a 46. Closest to the pin on the 65-yard second hole was Lyons at 3 feet, 1 inch, and a tie by Steve Kang and Mark Rice on the seventeenth at 2 feet, 10 inches.
