Massively popular Life Options Expo returns June 28

GRF’s Life Options Expo will be held on Friday, June 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. This hugely popular annual event provides crucial health information straight to residents’ backyard.
The expo brings together a wide range of providers, including assisted living agencies, caregivers, placement specialists, elder care agencies, veterans organizations, nonprofits and more. The free event is held in partnership with Lucent Care and Oakmont and Ivy Park Senior Care.
The following vendors will be in attendance: • Veterans Organizations: U.S. Vets and the VA Burial Center will offer information and peer advocates to answer questions and connect vets with needed resources.
• Medical Alert Devices: Safety First and
Alzheimer's Orange County, which attended the 2023 expo, is one of the many organizations that will be present at the Life Options Expo.

• Medical Alert Devices: Safety First and Connect America will talk about medical alerts and pricing, low income programs, answer questions and explain how their variety of systems work.
• Transportation Services: Abrazar, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, offers transportation services to seniors in OC, including nonemergency medical transportation. It will also provide information on the Senior Mobility Commute program.
• Cleaning and Junk Removal: Those who need help with sorting through and cleaning out stuff can speak to experts in that field from A Positive Approach, Caring Transitions, Bio-One Orange and Tonka Junk Removal. They are compassionate and willing to work.
• Assisted Living: Assisted living representatives from RownTree Gardens, Bay Towers at Bixby Knolls, Emerald Court, Regency Palms, Katella Senior Living, ActivCare Memory OC, Beach Terrace, Walnut Village, Brittany House, Oakmont and Ivy Park Senior Living will have brochures, pictures and information of their locations.
• Senior Placement Agencies: Placement agents from Alliance ElderCare; Local Living Solutions; and Best Life Solutions and Assisted Living Locators will provide information on what’s available, price ranges and financial assistance, and help people prepare for the future.
• Caregivers and Hospice: Representatives from caregiver agencies, palliative care and hospice including Angel Connection, Home Matters, Cozy Comfort, Care Partners, Right at Home, Salus, Tandem Care, Acacia Health, Bristol Hospice, Attentive, Living Well, and Transitions Health will be present to answer any questions.
Other highlights include:
• Meet Los Alamitos Hospital’s new owner: UCI Health, the new owner of Los Alamitos Hospital, will also have a booth and share the latest updates and changes to come.
• Find out more about electric induction cookbooks and monthly discounts on CPAP machines: Southern California Edison (SCE) will be joining the Expo this year with information about electric induction cooktops. Come by to find out more about eligibility for monthly discounts for those on a CPAP, nebulizer and oxygen tank. SCE also offers programs and incentives for low income residents.
• Figure out how to prevent the spread of dangerous vectors: OC Vector Control will have information on mosquito control, different types of mosquitos and their habits.
• Learn more about city programs: The City of Seal Beach will be there with a popup City Hall providing information on new and ongoing programs offered to Seal Beach residents.
• Register your pet and get free microchipping: The City of Seal Beach will help people license their dogs. People should make sure to bring their dog’s rabies certificate. The city’s designated animal shelter, WAGS, will also be on-site to provide free microchipping for dogs.
• Get a free tune-up for your walker or scooter: On the Mend will offer an on-site adjustment and minor repairs for walkers and scooters, as well as a battery check. • See whether you qualify for free food benefits: CalFresh and the Cap Food Bank box programs will help people check if they qualify for those low-income subsidies. Pavilions Concierge, Simply Delicious and Chefs for Seniors will talk about groceries and meal deliveries.
• Get a free eye evaluation and reading glasses: St. Mary’s Low Vision Center will offer free eye evaluation and the Seal Beach Lions Club will be handing out glasses. Braille Institute representatives and LW Impaired Vision and Hearing Club will also be present.
• Enjoy live music from LW’s finest performers: The expo will welcome back the LW Orchestra, conducted by maestro Samuel Kim, for a live performance.
• Snack on BBQ and Italian ice: People can also grab a bite to eat at Lucille’s BBQ Food Truck and a dessert from Scooter’s Italian Ice Truck.
GRF Minibus shuttle service will be available for all who want to avoid the traffic and limited parking during the Expo in Clubhouse 4.
A special on-call event bus service will be available the day of the expo, June 28, from 9:3010:30 a.m. Residents can call 562-431-6586, ext. 2379, when they are ready to be picked up. Regularly scheduled minibus shuttle service will be available all day after 9 a.m.
